Rae is brand new to working from home and also new to the career of business to business lead generation. It’s great to get a view from someone new so we sat down with Rae and learned more about her journey, “I started out as a nurse. I thought I wanted to be a nurse for the rest of my life, but after a year and a half, I realized that it wasn’t for me. I’ve had some type of sales job most of my life. I’ve worked selling jewelry. I’ve worked in a bank. I’ve had a variety of sales jobs, so I’m new to this but not really new to sales.”
Q: We’re excited that you’ve joined our team and that you are a fellow Houstonian. How did you find your way to us?
A: “I had posted on my Instagram story that I was looking for a job and my friend Sara told me that she had started working for this really great company, so I looked into it and here I am. I think if I hadn’t known somebody who already worked here at TeleReach Corporate, I might have passed over the opportunity because it seemed too good to be true. I just wish I had known about it earlier. I had no idea you could get paid to work from home like this. So, I’ve already referred a friend to work here too who will be starting in about a week.”
Q: Yes, we’ve heard people say – this sounds too good to be true. What’s the catch?
A: “Yes, there is a catch which is that you have to work. It’s a real job and it’s hard work. I’ve already had some friends say, hey that sounds like easy money, but I don’t know why they think that. Calling people all day is tedious and you have to be very disciplined to sit down and make the calls.”
Q: Have you ever worked from home before?
A: “This is my first situation where the entire job is working from home every day. At my previous job, we had the option of working from home on occasion such as when you have a sick child at home, but otherwise, we all worked in an office. We had quotas and I always met them, however, they had cameras at the end of each row so they could keep an eye on where we were on task or not. In my last job, I was not able to leave early on certain days to pick up my son, so he has to ride the bus to his dad’s and I wasn’t’ able to get there until 7 pm. By the time I drove home it was getting pretty late. Now that I’m working from home, I can leave early on Thursdays and Fridays and have more time with my son.”
Q: You’re off to a great start. What did you do before that has helped you hit the ground running here?
A: “I’m a transplant to Texas from California. I was a recruiter in the San Diego area for a specialized industry related to military veterans and that’s where I got the experience to do what we do here at TeleReach. I did do some cold calling there and I was always at the top. The part of the job I loved the most was that I was able to help veterans.
I’m also a personal trainer. After I lost some weight, I was so inspired by my own transformation and how it made me feel, that I decided to become a personal trainer, and that’s actually how I met Sara. She was my client. Then, I was a bikini competitor and you know Sara does professional spray tans so our body building team hired Sara to do all of our spray tans. So, we became her client too.”
Q: You’ve been here a few weeks now, what’s been your experience so far?
A: “I’m my own worst critic so the first week, I got 15 of these surveys in one day, so ever since I’ve been trying to get 16 in one day and I haven’t done it yet which is a little frustrating, but overall, I feel like I’m doing well. I made more in my first check than I was expecting. I was able to make the bonuses for the first two weeks of Success Camp. I can see the potential to make really good money here. I’m excited to start a second account tomorrow. I knew there was going to be a learning curve and that I need to allow myself time to get everything going.”
Q: What advice or tips do you have for people who may be considering our career in cold calling and working from home?
A: “You have to have a good work ethic and a level of stick-to-it-iveness. If you want to work from home you have to be able to stay focused and stay on task. If you’re a person who is able to do that, then this is definitely a great fit and a great job because it affords you the ability to be at home and have the flexibility to take care of your family and your home. You save money on gas and car expenses and other expenses. I don’t have to spend as much time getting ready to go to work. You can’t be a lazy person and make this work. People who think working from home isn’t working just haven’t ever done it before.
Working from home is absolutely perfect for me. I now have more time and more freedom and much less stress. The new freedom and less stress have given me an immense peace of mind and that has changed my life for the better.”
